About Emeraude Cruise
Launched in 2003, Emeraude Cruise is a pioneer luxury cruise in Halong Bay, inspired by the golden age of classic steamship travel. The vessel is a faithful recreation of a historic paddle steamer, bringing back the charm and elegance of early 20th-century cruising.
The story behind Emeraude Cruise is as fascinating as its design. Its French founder, Eric Merlin, discovered a vintage postcard in France featuring a fleet of paddle steamers—Emeraude, Perle, Saphir, and Rubis—that operated across Halong Bay and other parts of Vietnam from 1906 to 1945. Inspired by this remarkable find, he brought the legacy back to life through the creation of Emeraude Cruise.
Blending colonial-style architecture with modern comforts, the cruise offers well-appointed cabins and suites, attentive service, and a nostalgic atmosphere that transports guests to a bygone era. Each journey is thoughtfully designed, not only showcasing the breathtaking landscapes of Halong Bay but also sharing stories of Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage.
A voyage with Emeraude Cruise is more than just sightseeing—it is a unique experience that connects history, culture, and natural beauty, making it one of the most distinctive cruises in Halong Bay.
